United join running to sign in-demand forward.
Manchester United will rival Tottenham for the signing of want-away West Brom striker Saido Berahino in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of new additions up front after a poor start to the season from main centre-forward Wayne Rooney, who is yet to score in his first four games.
United lost Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao in the summer and are yet to replace them, with Berahino now seemingly their main target after his superb form for the Baggies last season.
