Manchester United have joined Manchester City in the race to sign Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne, reports the Metro.
It had been thought that the Citizens were in the lead to sign the 24-year-old, but their fierce local rivals have now jumped in. The Red Devils are apparently willing to pay £55 million for the Belgium international’s signature, after missing out on players such as Pedro and Thomas Muller this summer.
De Bruyne was allowed to leave Chelsea in January 2014, but has gone on to have great success in the Bundesliga. In 34 league games last season, the midfielder managed 10 goals and 20 assists. This has caught the eye of the Premier League duo, who have both been attempting to use the summer to catch up to Chelsea.

WAY CLEAR for Arsenal and Manchester United as Juventus talks stall with Bundesliga star
Judging from the first three games of the campaign, the Sky Blues have managed this with the additions of Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, and Nicolas Otamendi. However, United look still in need of reinforcements, and as such have more need of the De Bruyne. Especially as they have struggled to score freely so far.
