Tottenham Hotspur‘s pursuit of Saido Berahino has taken a huge twist following confirmed reports that West Brom have rejected an written transfer request from the player.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane all summer and was left out of the Baggies starting XI for the visit of Premier League champions Chelsea on Sunday afternoon due to the constant transfer speculation.
Manager Tony Pulis revealed in his post-match press conference that 15 clubs were interested in Berahino’s signature and that came just days after reports that they had rejected an offer believed to be in the region of £18million from Spurs for the England U21 star.
The Baggies released a statement on their official club website on Monday afternoon as they have reiterated their stance on wanting to keep hold of Berahino and he now looks set to remain at the Hawthorns until the transfer window reopens in January.
