Liverpool transfer news: Reds in loan talks over experienced South American midfielder

during the international friendly match between Brisbane Roar and Liverpool FC at Suncorp Stadium on July 17, 2015 in Brisbane, Australia.

Liverpool transfer news – surprise midfielder deal close?

Liverpool are in talks with Turkish club Besiktas over a possible loan deal for Brazilian ace Lucas Leiva, who seems set to leave this summer.

The experienced Reds ace has been a great servant to the Merseyside giants, but is no longer first choice in Brendan Rodgers’ plans after a number of new signings.

James Milner has joined in central midfield this summer, while Emre Can arrived last year and is also an option in that position ahead of the injury-prone South American.

Still, according to the Liverpool Echo, Lucas will only be leaving Anfield on loan for the season, perhaps to get his fitness up and to enjoy a run of regular first-team games.
