The top five flops of the weekend in the Premier League, featuring big names who really struggled, such as Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney…
1) Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Widely criticised for a hugely ineffective performance, it was a bad night for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who looks worryingly far from regaining his best form, both in front of goal and with his general build-up play.

2) John Terry (Chelsea)
Subbed off at half time, Chelsea’s captain was also in for an embarrassing time with a concerning display in the defeat to Manchester City, showing that age may finally be catching up with him despite some superb form last season.
3) Francis Coquelin (Arsenal)
A performance that showed Arsenal badly still need to sign a new midfielder, Francis Coquelin was very lucky not to be sent off against Crystal Palace after a series of wild challenges and rash decisions.
4) Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)
With two errors leading directly to goals, Branislav Ivanovic has had a terrible start to the season and may no longer be Chelsea’s ideal choice for the right-back position as he also heads past his peak.
5) Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)
One of the best midfielders in the world on his day, it hasn’t been Cesc Fabregas’ day for some time now, with the Spaniard overpowered by City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend and unable to exert his usual influence.
