John Terry future in doubt – five defenders who could replace the Chelsea legend.
A look at five possible replacements Chelsea could sign after dropping John Terry yesterday, with the Blues legend possibly past his best as he prepares to turn 35 this season…
1) John Stones (Everton)
One of the best young defenders in the game at the moment, John Stones looks like a great prospect in English football and the ideal defensive leader to fill Terry’s boots at Stamford Bridge. So far, Chelsea have failed with two bids to sign the 21-year-old, but are still trying for the £34m-rated starlet.

2) Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
A favourite of Jose Mourinho’s, Raphael Varane has shown himself to be a great prospect at Real Madrid, though he could be tempted by an offer to move away after struggling to hold down a regular starting spot for Los Blancos.
3) Antonio Rudiger (Stuttgart)
Another superb young centre-back, Antonio Rudiger has really impressed for Bundesliga side Stuttgart in recent times, emerging as a top target for Chelsea this summer for around £20m, though a deal has not yet materialised.
4) Marquinhos (PSG)
A world class youngster, Marquinhos is undoubtedly one of the best up-and-coming centre-backs in the world after some fine form for PSG and previous club AS Roma in recent seasons, attracting strong interest from Manchester United a few months ago.
5) Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)
Another potentially world class defender, Aymeric Laporte is one of the best young players in La Liga at the moment and his fine form has seen him linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
