Edin Dzeko‘s departure from Manchester City was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon as he sealed a season-long loan move to Serie A giants AS Roma.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker leaves English football after scoring 72 goals for the Citizens and here are five of his most memorable contributions in a City shirt:
5) First Barclays Premier League goal against Blackburn Rovers
The Bosnian had to wait three months for his first goal in the league for City following his transfer from Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg in the 2011 January transfer window.
His 75th minute winner edged the club even closer to Champions League football and that allowed the club to attract top quality players such as Sergio Aguero.
4) Four-goal haul against Tottenham Hotspur
As City cruised to a 5-1 victory at White Hart Lane in August 2011, Dzeko created history by becoming the first City player to score four goals in one Premier League match.
3) Two goals in the 6-1 mauling of fierce rivals in the 2011 Manchester derby
Despite starting the game on the bench at Old Trafford, Dzeko still managed to bag a brace late in the game to ensure City inflicted Manchester United’s worst home defeat since February 1955.
2) Late equaliser against Notts County en route to FA Cup success
It’s often forgotten just how close City came to being knocked out of the FA Cup in 2011 to lowly Notts County, but Dzeko equalised with 10 minutes to go at Meadow Lane to rescue a replay.
City romped to a 5-0 victory three weeks later and won their first piece of silverware in 35 years later on that season.
