Emirates Stadium side continue to pursue Real Madrid star.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a massive €70m (£49m) bid for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema according to Spanish source AS.
The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu and now Arsene Wenger looks ready to offer a club record sum for the French international.
Wenger watched his Arsenal side draw a blank against West Ham in their opening Premier League fixture of the season, this despite at one point having Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez all on the field of play.
Italian reporter Emanuele Giulianelli claims that Benzema has already been handed the number nine shirt, which is currently vacant.
The Daily Mail state that Arsenal are ready to make Benzema their highest paid player with a £150k a week deal being offered to the former Lyon man.
