Injured international midfielder to miss out on EPL return as transfer hopes are ended

Leroy Fer’s unhappy stay at Queens Park Rangers looks set to continue for a little bit longer, as the player has reportedly missed out on the opportunity to move to Sunderland.

According to Sky Sports, the Dutch international had a medical at the Stadium of Light earlier this week, but failed the fitness test and, as such, will not be moving to the north east.

The transfer would have seen Fer moving to the regional giants to play for his compatriot Dick Advocaat, but instead, it looks like he will be remaining in West London.

According to Sky, the versatile midfield star now looks unlikely to leave Loftus Road before the end of the transfer window, meaning that he will surely remain to compete for his current employers in their battle to escape the Championship.

25-year-old Fer only moved to join the Hoops last summer from Norwich City, and featured 29 times in the Premier League—scoring six goals and contributing two assists for the Rs.
