Real Madrid have revealed that Arsenal and Manchester United target Karim Benzema has suffered an injury in training.
The La Liga BBVA giants today released a statement titled, ‘Benzema medical report’, which confirmed that the France international has been diagnosed with a right thigh muscle injury and further tests are required.
Released on Real’s official website, it read:
‘Following tests carried out on Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid Medical Services at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital today, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in his right thigh. His condition will be evaluated.’
The news will come as a significant blow to Arsenal and Manchester United with both said to be interested in the striker – who is valued at £50m – this summer.
The statement suggests that Los Blancos do not know how long Benzema may be sidelined for – though he could still make the start of the La Liga season, which kicks off two weeks later than the Premier League.
