Manchester United’s kit suppliers Adidas are keen to see the club pursue a move to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer after pumping £750m into the club, according to the Daily Express.
The Red Devils unveiled their new Adidas home kit this week and could please their kit providers if they brought in a marquee signing like Bale, with the club supposedly not put off the idea, despite his huge asking price.
Adidas are set to pay United £750m over the next ten years, in what another Daily Express report claims is a world-record deal.
According to the Express, Bale would likely cost around £86m, which would just eclipse what BBC Sport claim the Spanish giants paid Tottenham Hotspur for him back in the summer of 2013, making him the most expensive player in the world once again in another record-breaking deal.
This report adds that manager Louis van Gaal is increasingly keen on bringing in a big name in the calibre of someone like the Wales international, with last summer’s big-name buy Angel Di Maria looking like leaving Old Trafford to join Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, claims backed up by a recent report from Sky Sports.
United have already spent big on several new faces this summer, bringing in Memphis Depay and Bastian Schweinsteiger as options in the attacking midfield area, though there’s no doubt Bale would represent a class above that.

The 26-year-old was one of the best players in the Premier League during his time with Spurs, and his fine form also helped Real to glory in the Champions League and Copa del Rey in his first season at the Bernabeu, as he scored in both finals.
Van Gaal is quoted in The Sun today as saying he wants a pacey and creative attacker, and Bale certainly fits that mould.
“Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and Messi — and they have Pedro behind them,” he said.
“We have to compete with that. We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way.
