Former French national team star Michel Platini has confirmed his intention to run for Fifa president in next year’s elections according to the BBC.
The 60-year-old is currently serving as president of Uefa and has put himself forward as a candidate to replace embattled Fifa head Sepp Blatter.
The Fifa presidential election will take place on February 26th next year as Blatter stands down from his position in charge of football’s world governing body.

79-year-old Blatter has been Fifa president since 1998 and will resign from his post next year after a series of corruption scandals made his tenure in the post untenable.
