Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target Marco Reus is flattered by the interest shown in him but wants to stay with Borussia Dortmund, reports the Daily Express.
This has been revealed by the 26-year-old’s agency Sport Total, who have released a statement on the recent rumours swirling around his future. This is after he signed a four-year deal with BVB just last February.
Any possibility of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from the manager’s post at the Westfalenstadion unsettling him appear unlikely to be realised, with the boyhood Dortmund fan [The Guardian] happy to stay with the club under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
“We read the rumours that are circulating about an alleged transfer for Marco,” the statement read.
“We can say with certainty that the player is having a wonderful time at Dortmund. He is flattered by the interest of many European teams but he’s recently decided to stay in Dortmund.”
This will be a disappointment for both of the Premier League sides understood to be keen on the player.
The Gunners may have been interested in the forward as they attempt to build a side that can challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title. Having only signed Petr Cech so far, and with a 12-point gap to bridge, Arsene Wenger will surely need to bolster their current squad in order to do this.

Reus could have been the difference between success and failure in this regard had he been keen on a move to join his international teammate Mesut Ozil in North London. During an injury-hit campaign last time round, he managed seven goals and five assists in 20 Bundesliga outings, and will surely only improve when fully fit.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Merseyside rivals have already signed a similar player in Roberto Firmino, so may not be as worried about missing out on the former Borussia Moenchengladbach ace. The Brazilian managed 12 goals and ten assists in all competitions for Hoffenheim last season, and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping he can recreate this in the English game.
