FC Barcelona the Los Angeles Galaxy in the International Champions Cup 2015 at Rose Bowl on July 21, 2015 in Pasadena, California.

Man United are closing in on a deal to sign Barcelona star Pedro according to the Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old Spanish international, who scored against Man United in the 2011 Champions League final, has fallen down the Nou Camp pecking order since the arrival of Luis Suarez last summer.

Pedro made just 15 La Liga starts in 2014/15 and the Daily Mirror claim Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward has flown back to the UK, from Man United’s North American tour, to meet with the Barcelona star’s agent.

The experienced forward has a £22m release clause (via The Guardian) and is also said to be a player that interests Chelsea and Liverpool (via the Daily Star).

Versatile Tenerife born attacker Pedro is capable of playing in either a wide or central role and would well suit Man United boss Louis van Gaal’s preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Pedro has racked up 98 goals in 318 appearances for Barcelona and has played his part in helping the Catalan side to secure a host of honours including five La Liga titles and three Champions League winners’ medals.

Louis van Gaal has already secured the signings of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero and the Daily Mirror claims that moves to bring in Pedro would see Man United’s summer spending exceed £100m.
