Manchester United are set to sell winger Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain and are in discussions with the Ligue 1 side to bring in either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Edinson Cavani as part of a swap deal for the Argentine star, according to the Daily Mail.
Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal could do with bringing in a striker to boost his attacking options, with Robin van Persie having been sold to Fenerbahce, and having not opted to activate the permanent-transfer clause in Radamel Falcao’s contract.
Swedish international Ibrahimovic may well be in the latter stages of his glittering career, but it’s clear that the former Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan and Internazionale man still has a lot to offer.
Since moving to the French capital in July 2012, the 33-year-old has scored an astonishing 106 goals in 126 appearances to help the Parc des Princes giants to two Ligue 1 titles as well as a host of other domestic crowns.
Louis van Gaal has spoken recently of moves to bring in a ‘surprise’ striker signing [via Goal] and there has been some speculation that Ibrahimovic could be the man in question [Metro].
Ibrahimovic has the physical attributes to be a big success in the Premier League, and having plied his trade in Holland, Spain, Italy and France, the towering forward could be ready for a fresh challenge.
