Manchester United legend Gary Neville has expressed his concern about the Red Devils’ planned sale of Angel Di Maria.
The Argentina winger was signed last summer for a club record £59.7 million [Telegraph], but his time at Old Trafford looks set to come to a speedy end.
After a mixed campaign, in which he contributed 10 assists but struggled to impress, the wideman looks set to leave Manchester, with Paris Saint-Germain keen on bringing the Albiceleste star to Ligue 1.
PSG are understood to be nearing a £45.9 million deal for the former Real Madrid star [Mirror]—who won the Champions League in 2014—and a deal could be completed imminently.
Neville, however, has struck a note of caution.
Writing on his @GNev2 Twitter handle, the erstwhile right-back has warned Louis van Gaal not to spoil a good summer of transfer business by letting Di Maria go without a replacement.
“United have done good business this summer on signings and value,” the club legend began.
“Have to be careful letting [Angel Di Maria] go without an equal coming in first though,” he continued.
The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian have been brought in to bolster the midfield and the right-back position, but to date, Memphis Depay is the only offensive arrival.
