Wenger talks a success as player chooses Arsenal.
Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina looks set to stay with the club this summer after holding successful talks with manager Arsene Wenger, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Colombian international had recently emerged as a surprise target for Real Madrid (according to a piece in the Spanish version of Goal) after the arrival of Petr Cech at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Despite largely being first choice for Arsenal last season, Ospina’s fine form for club and country doesn’t look to have been enough for him to keep his place in the starting lineup, with Cech sure to become the new number one for the Gunners after joining from rivals Chelsea.
The 26-year-old has supposedly sat down with Wenger and held talks about his future, and it looks as though he has been persuaded to remain in north London for the time being, with the Mirror adding that Wojciech Szczesny is on his way out of the club as he nears a move to Serie A side AS Roma.

Szczesny’s departure makes it all the more important that Ospina has opted to remain with the club as a backup to Cech, with two ‘keepers leaving at once sure to be a big blow for Arsenal had it happened.
Ospina showed his quality in this summer’s Copa America, and there’s no doubt he has the potential to be a starter for most big clubs, though Real have since signed Kiko Casilla from Espanyol. This may have played into his decision to remain as a backup at Arsenal instead of moving elsewhere.
