Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of free-agent and international goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
The Daily Mail, on Tuesday night, stated that the 28-year-old has been offered a three-year contract, and terms on the deal are expected to be finalised this week.
In a further update on the speculation, in reports cited by the Metro, the Red Devils are one step closer to confirming the signing of the Argentina international, as the goalkeeper is said to have completed his medical with the Premier League giants.
Romero became a free-agent at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract with Sampdoria, the Daily Mail report, and United look to have pounced on his signature – who had also attracted the interest of AS Roma [via the Metro].

It is expected that the Argentine stopper has been targeted – not as a replacement to Real Madrid target David De Gea [via the Daily Star] – but to succeed Victor Valdes, who is said to have fallen significantly out of favour under Louis van Gaal.
The former Netherlands manager hinted that the Spaniard has been made available in this summer’s market after refusing to take part in an Under-21 match for the club – a decision that van Gaal says goes against his philosophy:
“He doesn’t follow my philosophy. There is no place for someone like that,” as quoted by BBC Sport.
While Valdes – who made just two Premier League appearances last season – appears poised to complete an Old Trafford exit in the coming weeks, it seems increasingly likely that De Gea will remain the club’s No.1 – despite persistent claims that the 24-year-old would be returning to the Spanish capital for the 2015-16 campaign.
The Red Devils have thus far played two games of their pre-season tour of North America, both of which have been missed by the former Atletico Madrid star through minor injury; however, van Gaal has voiced his expectance that the Spain international will start in their next game against Barcelona [via the Mirror].
