Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists his squad are well equipped to defend their Premier League title in the upcoming season.
With the likes of both Manchester clubs and Liverpool splashing the cash in the transfer market so far, the Blues have been low-key in their business as they have signed players as replacements.
Former Manchester United loanee Radamel Falcao has joined the West London outfit on a season-long loan deal after club legend Didier Drogba left on a free transfer, while the departure of Petr Cech to rivals Arsenal was somewhat eased with the arrival of Asmir Begovic, who is proven at this level following a number of solid seasons with Stoke City.
Another replacement is likely to be needed once Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis rejoins Atletico Madrid in the coming days but Mourinho says he doesn’t need to add any big signings to ensure his side retain their title:
“In this moment we don’t want players,” the Portuguese manager told Sky Sports.
“Of course we must be ready because the market is open and if someone comes for one of our players with a bid, we must be ready to act.”
“I think the players we have are happy because the club trusts them. We are saying: ‘You are the champions, we trust you, we believe in you,” Mourinho added.
