Ten team-mates, past and present, who couldn’t stand each other!
1) Cristiano Ronaldo & Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Two players who are very public about their frosty relationship and conflict on the pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale quite clearly don’t get on, and the Real Madrid team-mates’ feud could still force one of the two players out of the club this summer, with Manchester United willing to pounce for either player. After various comings together last season, the pair were also seen exchanging strong words in a pre-season friendly this summer.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Edinson Cavani (PSG)
Two players battling for the main striker role at Paris Saint-Germain, it seems pretty clear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani are treading on each other’s toes at the Parc des Princes, with rumours that the club will pander to Zlatan’s needs and offload Cavani to a high enough bidder this summer.
3) Thierry Henry & Jose Antonio Reyes (Arsenal)
Despite trying to hide their disputes, there was clear tension behind the scenes at Arsenal when Jose Antonio Reyes joined the club. Thierry Henry did not like the Spaniard occupying the same spaces on the pitch as him, and there was further bad blood when Spain manager Luis Aragones tried to motivate Reyes by slamming Henry with a racial slur.
4) Jens Lehmann & Manuel Almunia (Arsenal)
Another long-running Arsenal feud – Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia made it perfectly clear that they were not on speaking terms in training, with the German holding a real grudge when the Spaniard took his place as number one for the Gunners. Considering the performances of Almunia when he was brought in, perhaps it’s easy to understand why!
5) Andrew Cole & Teddy Sheringham (Manchester United & England)
One of the most famous rivalries, Teddy Sheringham and Andrew Cole played alongside each other for many successful years at Manchester United, even though the two could not stand each other off the pitch, with Cole long holding a grudge against Sheringham for snubbing him on his England debut.
6) Lee Bowyer & Kieron Dyer (Newcastle)
Tempers exploded between these two on the pitch during Newcastle’s defeat to Aston Villa – Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer clearly did not get along and couldn’t hide their anger in this embarrassing brawl at St James’ Park.
7) Mauro Icardi & Maxi Lopez (Sampdoria)
With a complicated love triangle developing between these players during their time at Sampdoria, Mauro Icardi does not come out well of this incident with Maxi Lopez, who now snubs the player when they meet to shake hands in matches between Sampdoria and Icardi’s new club Inter Milan.
8) William Gallas & Kolo Toure (Arsenal)
Defensive partners at the back for Arsenal for a number of years, it soon emerged that Kolo Toure and William Gallas did not get along at all, with Toure eventually feeling he had to leave the club for Manchester City to get away from the Frenchman, who was known for being a difficult personality. It is thought that the issues may have started when Arsene Wenger chose Gallas over Toure for Arsenal captain.
9) John Fashanu & Lawrie Sanchez (Wimbledon)
Despite the fun-loving front, the ‘Crazy Gang’ at Wimbledon were not all best friends, and it has become known that John Fashanu and Lawrie Sanchez hated each other for a long time.
10) Lothar Matthaus and Stefan Effenberg (Bayern Munich & Germany)
Team-mates for both Bayern Munich and Germany, Lothar Matthaus and Stefan Effenberg hid their hatred for each other on the pitch, but were known to have a real dislike for each other away from the field.
