Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their bid to land one of their main defensive transfer targets this summer, following fresh developments involving Nicolas Otamendi.
The Argentine international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford since the start of the summer and there were reports in the media that he was willing to go on strike at Valencia in order to push through a move to the Red Devils.
Now it appears he just may get his wish as Metro Sport have revealed that he was left out of Los Che’s pre-season kit launch and that coupled with Jonny Evans’ imminent departure to Everton [via Guardian Sport] has fuelled speculation that Otamendi is set to become United manager Louis van Gaal’s fifth summer signing.
After landing Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin before the club departed for their pre-season tour of the United States on Monday, it appears van Gaal is slowly assembling a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title this year.
