The Ligue 1 champions’ interest in the Portugal international is far from new this summer, as it was reported in the Telegraph last month that Les Parisiens were keen on the former Manchester United winger’s signature, but the transfer depended on two significant factors.

First, the British newspaper stated, Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who has entered the final year of his Paris contract – would have to leave the Parc des Princes in order to help finance the move.

Second, despite Ronaldo having reached the age landmark of 30, he would still command a transfer fee of around £87m – given he has three-years remaining on his Santiago Bernabeu deal, and is expected to continue playing at the highest level for between five and seven years. Such a sizeable price-tag could therefore cause havoc in meeting with Financial Fair Play regulations, the Telegraph explained.

Now, almost a month later, France Football [via the Mirror] are stating that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez travelled to Qatar last week to meet PSG’s Qatari owners, and the future of the 30-year-old was the subject of conversation.

According to the French magazine, Ronaldo is not available ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, but the report claims that Perez is willing to cash in on the Portuguese superstar in a year’s time.

Having had their Financial Fair Play restrictions lifted [via BBC Sport], France Football state that there are now fewer concerns over making a move for the Portugal captain.

After the FFP regulations were eased, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi revealed that the club will aim to continue acquiring world-class talent:

“We will look to buy the best players that the team needs,” he is quoted on BBC Sport.

It seems Ronaldo could be their chief target – but his Real Madrid career doesn’t appear over just yet after more superb goalscoring form from him last season.
