Arsenal rumours
With news today that Juventus are eyeing up a shock move to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, here’s a look at five players the Gunners could bring in to replace the German international…
1) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
An almost like-for-like replacement, Marco Reus could move this summer and has been linked with Arsenal in the past, with the German international an ideal number ten to come in and fill Ozil’s boots at the Emirates Stadium.
2) Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)
A surprise target for Arsenal in recent reports, Angel Di Maria has been slow to settle at Manchester United and could be brought in by Arsene Wenger if Ozil leaves a gap to be filled in the attacking midfield department.
3) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)
Although Arsenal have been linked with his team-mate Raheem Sterling, a move for Liverpool’s skillful number ten Philippe Coutinho might be a better move for the Gunners, with the Brazilian a similar style of player to Ozil.
4) Isco (Real Madrid)
In another potential raid on Real Madrid, Arsenal could revive their interest in signing Spanish attacker Isco for that creative midfield role, though Juventus are also said to be looking at him as an option alongside Ozil.
5) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
Not an identical player to Ozil, but Arturo Vidal has been linked with Arsenal in recent times and could make way at Juventus to help push this deal through. The Chilean midfielder can play further forward after moving there last season, or his presence in a deeper role could allow Santi Cazorla to play in Ozil’s number ten position.
