Arsenal transfer news
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly been in touch with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema over the phone to discuss a possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium, according to the Metro.
The Metro cite Spanish journalist Paco Gonzalez, who works for news source COPE and who has claimed talks have already taken place to persuade the French international forward to move to north London this summer.
PACO GONZÁLEZ:”Wenger ha vuelto a llamar este verano a Benzema, pero no quiere salir del Madrid. Jesé tampoco. Están encantados con Mayoral”

Benzema has been at Real since 2009 and has won a whole host of major honours with the club, including the La Liga title in 2011/12 and the Champions League in 2013/14, scoring 133 goals along the way.
With 25 goals in 76 caps for France as well, Benzema has proven himself to be one of the finest goal-getters in European football, and would surely represent a major step up from the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck up front for the Gunners.
Arsenal have been less shy of bringing in established stars in recent times, landing Mesut Ozil from Madrid back in 2013, whilst also raiding Barcelona for Alexis Sanchez last year in two successful deals that have resulted in the return of silverware to the famous old club.
With many feeling that a new striker could now be the missing link between Arsenal and Premier League title glory, the addition of Benzema along with Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer, would represent a fine transfer window from Wenger if he could pull it off.
