10) Adam Bogdan (Bolton to Liverpool)

A pointless signing for a club that needed a new number one, not a backup, Adam Bogdan joins Liverpool from Bolton in one of the strangest moves of the summer.

9) Joe Gomez (Charlton to Liverpool)

An unknown quantity, but it’s hard to imagine this teenager who only has Championship experience could add a great deal to this Reds side straight away.

Liverpool’s last 20 signings ranked from worst to best: Balotelli 15th, Brazil starlet 1st, ex-Arsenal man 12th

8) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco to Chelsea)

A risky signing, even on loan, Radamel Falcao was desperately poor for Manchester United last season and doesn’t seem good enough to provide that much-needed backup for Diego Costa.

7) Danny Ings (Burnley to Liverpool)

An uninspiring buy, but Danny Ings has at least shown some potential in his career so far and could improve at a bigger club, at least arriving on the cheap from Burnley.

6) Kevin Wimmer (FC Cologne to Tottenham)

A talented young defender, Kevin Wimmer is not the big name some Spurs fans want, but he could play a key role for the north Londoners next season.

5) Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton to Liverpool)

A smart signing from Southampton, Nathaniel Clyne should be a very good player for Liverpool if he doesn’t flop spectacularly like Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert, who made the same moves last summer.

4) James Milner (Manchester City to Liverpool)

A fantastic signing considering he’s free, James Milner will add experience and craft to this Liverpool midfield, looking an ideal replacement for Steven Gerrard.

3) Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim to Liverpool)

A top talent, Roberto Firmino looks the real deal after some impressive seasons at Hoffenheim and should be a big success alongside fellow Brazilian Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.

2) Petr Cech (Chelsea to Arsenal)

An absolute bargain at £10m, Petr Cech joins rivals Arsenal from Chelsea and is expected to become the new number one for the Gunners, solving what has long been a problem position for the club.

1) Memphis Depay (PSV to Manchester United)

Brought in for £30m, Memphis Depay may seem a risky buy at that price, but the Dutchman, like Firmino, is a genuine talent who seems set for stardom after some hugely impressive displays at former club PSV.
