Arsenal rumours
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be lining up a stunning double swoop to bring in two quality French players this summer, according to various recent reports.
The Gunners are in need of strengthening in a number of positions if they are to build on their FA Cup win last season and challenge for the Premier League title, and these moves could be enough to bridge that gap between themselves and Chelsea.
After developments this week, Arsenal could now be in the clear to complete the signings of these two world class players, who are also wanted by rivals Manchester United and Liverpool…
1) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)
With Manchester United having a bid rejected for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, Arsenal could now be in a good position to overtake their rivals in the race for his signature, with the Frenchman likely to cost around £25m, and with the Gunners now able to splash that kind of cash on the players they want.
2) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)
For a further £21m, Arsenal have been told that they can sign Lyon striker and top Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette for that bargain fee. The 24-year-old French finisher was in lethal form last season as he scored 31 goals, and there’s no doubt he’d be a big upgrade on Olivier Giroud in Wenger’s attack.
