RW – Memphis Depay
Manchester United acted quick in agreeing a deal for the winger before the transfer window even opened, and there are high hopes that the Netherlands international could be one of the signings of the summer. The 21-year-old finished as the Dutch Eredivisie’s top goalscorer – with 22 of his strikes hitting the back of the net – and with a shortage of goals from the Red Devils’ attack last season, the Old Trafford faithful will be hoping that his form in front of goal continues.
ST – Wayne Rooney
Reports have suggested that the Red Devils could be in the market for a new striker in the summer – with Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani having been linked – but do Manchester United really need to spend big on another forward? Yes, the club’s captain finished the last campaign with just 12 goals, but 14 of his 33 appearances in the Premier League were in central midfield. The 29-year-old’s best position is unquestionably as the main striker – where double figures are almost guaranteed.
LW – Angel Di Maria
The Argentina winger was hugely underwhelming in his first season at Old Trafford, but with a player of such natural ability, the 27-year-old will surely return to top form. There can’t be many Premier League supporters not wishing to see the former Real Madrid star at his finest in England next season.
