Sensational claims have recently emerged from German newspaper Sport Bild that Manchester United are willing to offload Angel Di Maria to Bayern Munich – if the Bundesliga giants allow Bastian Schweinsteiger to move in the opposite direction.
In light of such transfer speculation, we’ve taken a look at four Allianz Arena stars, including Schweinsteiger, who the Red Devils could request in exchange for the Argentina winger, if such a rumour is correct.

4. Bastian Schweinsteiger
The Germany captain, at the age of 30, remains one of the most highly regarded midfielders in Europe.
While Schweinsteiger may no longer be the force he once was in the centre of the park, he would be an excellent addition to the dressing room, as well as being an ideal teacher to the young players at Old Trafford.
If anything at all, the Red Devils would certainly increase their shirt sales with the World Cup winner among their ranks.
3. Jerome Boateng
The former Manchester City defender failed to live up to expectations during his season at Manchester City; however, the Germany international has been integral to the stunning success of the Bavarians over the past few campaigns.
His physicality and calmness on the ball are his key strengths, but his versatility could make him an excellent signing for Louis van Gaal.
Capable of playing at centre-back and on either flank at full-back, Boateng could provide plenty of options in defence for the Dutchman.
2. Mario Gotze
The 23-year-old is yet to light up the Allianz Arena following his £31.5m move from fierce Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund – and an escape from the Allianz Arena may be just what the 2014 World Cup final hero requires.
A place in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI is far from guaranteed, with the Spanish manager’s confidence seemingly limited in the former Westfalenstadion star.
The issue with the Germany international is that he perhaps has the feel of more of an impact player than a reliable 90-minute performer.
Nonetheless, as his performances for BVB proved in his early career, he can certainly perform consistently.
1. Thomas Muller
The 25-year-old has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford over the past week, with reports suggesting that the Premier League giants had prepared a package worth £120m in an attempt to lure the striker to England.
Muller scored 21 goals and registered 13 assists in all competitions last season, which is mightily impressive given the attacker was handed five different starting positions from Pep Guardiola: centre-forward, right winger, attacking midfielder, central midfielder and left midfielder.
At Manchester United, Muller would likely have more stability in his position in the former Netherland manager’s XI, and perhaps this could be key in prizing him away from the Allianz Arena.
