The Belgium international has only two years left on his contract and has confirmed that he is not looking to extend his current deal at Villa Park [Telegraph].
If the Birmingham giants opt not to offload the striker this summer, they risk seeing him depart for a cut-price fee in a year’s time.
The striker has a fee-release clause of £32.5 million, and the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the striker [Express].
It was reported on Tuesday by the Mirror that Tottenham were plotting a swap-deal for the striker, with Togo hitman Emmanuel Adebayor understood to be heading in the opposite direction.
However, Villa appear to have responded defiantly to the suggestion that Benteke will be out of the door by featuring him prominently in their teaser for the new kit launch.
