SkySports‘ La Liga football expert Graham Hunter broke the news and claimed the Real Madrid vice-captain has informed the club of his desire to join the Red Devils this summer.

United were first linked with a surprise move for Ramos two weeks ago when reports in Guardian Sport suggested a swap deal that would take David De Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu could be a possibility.

This all stemmed from the fact that contract talks between the 28-year-old and Los Blancos had stalled [via Metro Sport], with Ramos also said to be upset that no denials were made in regards to speculation that he had been offered to bitter rivals Barcelona [via Guardian Sport].

Independent Sport then claimed Ramos was taking English lessons and that further fuelled speculation that a transfer to Old Trafford was edging closer.

But reports in Spanish publication Marca revealed a truce had been called between the two parties and a decision on the defender’s future will be made before Madrid depart for their pre-season tour.

However, with United’s bid for the player now confirmed, the ball is firmly in Madrid’s court as to whether they will accept an offer for one of their most prized assets, who seemingly wants to quit the club this summer.
