Manchester United transfer blow: Barcelona star wants to stay at Nou Camp for ‘years and years’
This is despite the club currently going through presidential elections. Bartomeu confirmed that this would have no effect on their recruitment. The transfer ban that runs until January doesn’t seem to be having a detrimental effect either. Barca have already signed Aleix Vidal from Sevilla in the current window.
“We have a very reliable team for next season but besides Aleix Vidal another player will join,” he said, “The club is not paralysed by the election process and is making sporting plans for coach Luis Enrique. The coach knows what we need and we will carry out those duties.”
With this in mind, here are five huge arrivals who could be next up at the Nou Camp…
5) Paul Pogba (Juventus)
Election rival Joan Laporta has talked up a move for the 22-year-old according to ESPN, claiming he has the contacts to make it happen. Should he win the presidency you can be sure a move will be at least attempted, but do they really need to improve a midfield that already has Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, and Andres Iniesta?
4) Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)
Despite only joining last summer, the 27-year-old has been seen as a disappointment at Old Trafford after a lightning start. The Daily Mail think that the Blaugranas will have to pay £58 million if they want the winger, which is an extortionate fee. However, The Sun claim Lionel Messi wants the move, so you never know.
3) Arda Turan (Atletico Madrid)
A major source of creativity for one of the Catalan side’s biggest rivals, this could be a Bayern Munich-esque signing to strengthen themselves but weaken their league. The Daily Express has linked them to the winger, who would surely find it difficult to break in to a front line including Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
2) Marco Verratti (PSG)
Very possibly the perfect heir to Xavi, SPORT have rumoured that Barca are keen on the 22-year-old. The midfielder has brilliant passing ability, and would fit in perfectly at the Nou Camp. It is just a question of whether the Parisians are willing to let him go.
1) Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
Linked at the beginning of the month by the Daily Star, but nothing has been heard of since. Although the Welshman wasn’t as good last season as he was in the 2013-14 campaign, he would still be a major acquisition. Could the 24-year-old be the latest of a long string of Gunners stars to make the move to Catalonia?
