Liverpool set to make £18million bid for Man United and Gunners transfer target Pedro

Liverpool’s summer recruitment is showing no signs of slowing down as they are preparing an £18million bid for Barcelona forward Pedro, according to Metro Sport.

The Reds have been extremely busy in the transfer window so far as they have brought in five new players ahead of the new season.

James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino have all be recruited by the club and now attentions have turned to make Pedro the sixth new arrival on Merseyside.

The Spanish international recently signed a new deal with the Catalan giants and has a reported £108million release-clause in his contract, meaning the Reds will need prepare a larger bid of £18million if they are to acquire his signature.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are also understood to also be interested in the 27-year-old and both are likely to be in pole position as they can offer Champions League football next season.

If the Merseyside outfit are looking at Pedro, then it could pave the way for Raheem Sterling to exit Anfield this summer.

The England international has been linked with a move ever since his interview with BBC Sport in April without the club’s permission.

In that interview he stated that contract talks had been put on hold until the end of the season, however, with Liverpool failing to qualify for the Champions League and losing to Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final, Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward revealed he would not be signing a new deal [via Standard Sport].

Interest in Sterling has been high as European giants Real Madrid [via SkySports] and Bayern Munich [via talkSPORT] were considering offers for the winger, but recent events suggests he will be staying in England this summer.

The Etihad Stadium remains the likely destination for the 20-year-old after Manchester City remain keen on his signature despite seeing two bids rejected by the Anfield outfit [via BBC Sport].

City are expected to return with one final offer in the next few days according to Mail Sport, but they will face competition from Chelsea, who won’t go a penny over £40million for the winger [via SkySports].

Sterling scored seven goals in 35 league appearances for Liverpool last season, but failed to find the net in his last six games for the club.
