The 19-year-old was apparently a target for Manchester United, but it seems that the Blues have beaten their Premier League rivals to the punch. The Brazilian side confirmed his departure on twitter.
Although not absolute proof, recent Stamford Bridge arrival Nathan Allan seemed to confirm that the youngster had followed him to the club. The tweet has since been deleted though, perhaps meaning he jumped the gun.
The teenager played 40 times for Fluminense during his time there, scoring five goals. He has also featured seven times for Brazil Under 20s, but if he arrives in London it will still be a surprising move from Jose Mourinho. The forward could be another of the Blues’ signings who join the club, go on loan elsewhere, and are eventually sold at a massive profit.
Recent examples of this are Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, who moved to Wolfsburg and Everton respectively. Before this they had been farmed out on loan, and neither made any meaningful impact in the Mourinho’s first team. Despite Lukaku was bought for £28 million [BBC] and De Bruyne €20 million [The Guardian], helping Chelsea greatly with Financial Fair Play restrictions.
