1) Raheem Sterling – £50m

With rumours that Liverpool are holding out for a crazy £50m for Manchester City target Raheem Sterling, the 20-year-old surely has to go down as one of the biggest potential rip-offs of the summer, costing far more than players like Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero did in recent years, as Rio Ferdinand rightly pointed out on Twitter.

2) Jack Wilshere – £40m

Another player on Manchester City’s radar this summer that suggests the Etihad Stadium club don’t know what they’re doing, Arsenal’s sicknote midfielder Jack Wilshere could supposedly cost as much as £40m – a ridiculous fee for a player who hardly ever makes it into the team and isn’t exactly great when he does.

3) Edinson Cavani – £50m

A divisive player, but there’s surely no question £50m is too much for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, who is capable of having some really bad games and missing glaring chances. Not good enough for a club like Manchester United or Arsenal.

4) Harry Kane – £40m

After just one season of prolific form Harry Kane is now supposedly worth £40m! Linked with a move to Manchester United, the Tottenham striker seems to be playing down talk of leaving White Hart Lane.

5) Alvaro Morata – £58m

Another one-season wonder being far too overhyped, Juventus starlet Alvaro Morata is supposedly worth an insane £58m this summer if the likes of Liverpool pursue their interest in the 22-year-old Spaniard.

6) Kevin Strootman – £60m

Linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the season, it would supposedly take an offer of £60m to persuade AS Roma to sell injury-prone midfielder Kevin Strootman, who is a good passer but little more than that.

7) Hugo Lloris – £30m

A good goalkeeper, but £30m is Gianluigi Buffon-style money for rumoured Manchester United target Hugo Lloris. The Tottenham man is surely overpriced at that fee, and is more likely to move for around £20m.

8) Saido Berahino – £30m

Again, not the most expensive player out there, but what has West Brom striker Saido Berahino done to justify rumours that he’s worth £30m and wanted by the likes of Liverpool? Inconsistent at best, the England youngster still has much to prove in the Premier League.
