Liverpool have rejected two bids in the past week, but that has not deterred City in their plans and they are ready to launch a fresh £45 million bid in the coming days.

City first offer was thought to be a £25 million bid which was swiftly rejected by the Reds [via Independent Sport] and then a second offer thought to be in the region of £40 million was also turned down [via BBC Sport]. However, with a third bid in the pipeline, this transfer saga could be heading for a speedy conclusion.

It remains to be seen whether £45 million will be enough to tempt the Reds into selling the 20-year-old as they want £50 million up front [via Telegraph Sport] and have reportedly rejected the chance of a swap deal involving some of City’s fringe players [via Express Sport].

The Merseyside outfit have insisted in the past that they have no intentions of letting Sterling leave the club this summer [via Mail Sport], although it seems that their stance is softening and it looks likely the England international will be on the move if the price is right.

The winger has two years left remaining on his contract and he [via BBC Sport] along with agent Aidy Ward have made it very clear [via Standard Sport] that the chances of agreeing a new deal at Anfield are highly unlikely.

Sterling suffered a dip in form towards the end of the season as it appeared that the situation surrounding his contract was proving to be a huge weight on his shoulders.

He only found the back of the net once in his last 12 appearances for the Reds and was left on the bench for the final game of the season against Stoke City.
