Arsenal transfer update: Gunners to bring in superb £45m trio to bolster defence
The 18-year-old has been a regular for the Belgian side over the last two seasons, and has also made several Champions League appearances. He is even the youngest player to ever appear in Europe’s premier club competition after getting into the side at the tender age of 16 years and 148 days.
For such a young player, his 83 appearances in senior football demonstrate his immense talent. Despite this, the midfielder is yet to play for the Belgian national team, having only played in their Under 21s outfit. To some extent, this is understandable, with the likes of Mousa Dembele, Radja Nainggolan, Kevin De Bruyne, Axel Witsel, Marouane Fellaini and Steven Defour providing intense competition in the middle of the park.
In order to prise the central midfielder away from RSCA it could take a bid of at least €20 million according to AS. Atleti are interested in signing him as an understudy for Koke, but Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are also keen on the player.
Chelsea may not even want the Belgian for their first team, having become known for signing youngsters and then selling them on at a profit. Just last summer, Romelu Lukaku and the aforementioned De Bruyne left Stamford Bridge for large transfer fees despite rarely playing in their starting XI.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are far more likely to use the midfielder as a part of their first-team immediately.
Wenger is known for the faith he often places in youth, and he could be the perfect partner for Francis Coquelin in the middle of the park. While the Frenchman is good defensively, he is lacking going forward and Tielemans could be a good foil with his passing ability.
