A look at how Liverpool’s starting XI could look next season if they bring in the targets they want, with recent reports linking three big names from Ligue 1 with the club, as well as a Barcelona star to join already-completed deals for James Milner and Danny Ings…

GK: Simon Mignolet

Despite a slow start to the season, Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet improved as the campaign went on and arguably deserves to remain as number one for 2015/16.

DR: Martin Montoya

Linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer, Spanish starlet Martin Montoya could be on his way to Anfield, replacing Glen Johnson.

DL: Lucas Digne

Another promising young player linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, Paris Saint-Germain left-back could be on his way to the club as an upgrade on Alberto Moreno.

DC: Emre Can

Moving to centre-back, Emre Can should play a key role for Liverpool next season after a highly promising first season on Merseyside.

DC: Mamadou Sakho

Another strong performer from 2014/15, Mamadou Sakho is also likely to continue as first choice in Brendan Rodgers’ lineup next term.

MC: Jordan Henderson

Expected to be new club captain, Jordan Henderson will certainly be first choice in the Liverpool midfield for the start of the new season.

MC: James Milner

A new signing already confirmed by the club, James Milner joins from Manchester City and seems the likeliest candidate to partner Henderson in the middle of the park.

AMR: Lucas Ocampos

A £14m Argentine playing for AS Monaco, Lucas Ocampos has been linked with a move to Liverpool and could be an ideal replacement for Raheem Sterling.

AML: Philippe Coutinho

In a free role from the left, Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho should remain an instrumental part of the Liverpool team next season.

FC: Danny Ings

Brought in from Burnley, Danny Ings could be a good buy for the Reds on the cheap this summer, possibly becoming first choice up front.

FC: Alexandre Lacazette

With Daniel Sturridge so injury prone, another new striker is still needed and it could be that Liverpool make another raid on Ligue 1 for highly-rated Lyon goal machine Alexandre Lacazette.
