The 23 year old Egyptian was sent to Fiorentina on a temporary deal as part of swap move that saw Juan Cuadrado move to Stamford Bridge and the former FC Basel man proceeded to impress greatly in Italy.
Salah netted nine goals in 26 appearances in Florence and was a man reborn and the loan deal certainly acted as a very effective shop window for his obvious talents.
Jose Mourinho barely used Salah but by all accounts is averse to sending him to a local rival and would prefer Fiorentina to sign the wide-man on a permanent deal, with a £12m fee being mooted.
The likes of Aaron Lennon and Erik Lamela proved ineffective in wide-areas last term though Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen certainly impressed.
Andros Townsend is another wide option available to boss Mauricio Pochettino though the Argentine used the England man sparingly last term.
