Five things that will INFURIATE Arsenal fans in the summer transfer window, including Chelsea deal
The summer is fully underway now as the transfer rumours come thick and fast, so here’s our pick of some of the main stories from the last week, ranked by their probability of coming true, going from least to most…
10) Alex Song (Barcelona to Chelsea)
Ridiculous – Chelsea are hardly in need of new additions in their star-studded midfield, and Barcelona reject Alex Song is certainly not of the required quality to challenge for a place, showing only patchy form on loan at West Ham United in 2014/15.
9) Diego Costa (Chelsea to Real Madrid)
Come on! Who came up with this one? Just one season at Chelsea and Diego Costa is being linked with a bizarre return to Spain with Real Madrid, who aren’t exactly in need of a new striker given the presence of Karim Benzema and the suggestion that Rafael Benitez could play Cristiano Ronaldo up front next season.
8) Harry Kane (Tottenham to Manchester United)
A very rash move by Manchester United if true, as reports claim the club will bid £40m to sign Tottenham starlet Harry Kane this summer. We’ve seen one-season wonders like this before, so clubs should approach with caution, and there are more proven and cheaper options out there for United to consider.
7) Nabil Bentaleb (Tottenham to Liverpool)
A strange move that has come up due to some disagreement between Nabil Bentaleb and Spurs over his contract, Liverpool could do with a new signing in midfield, but the young Algerian doesn’t really seem the ideal player to fill the void left by Steven Gerrard.
6) Robin van Persie (Manchester United to Juventus)
A possible move, with Robin van Persie no longer needed at Manchester United after a real dip in form this season, though Juventus already have a large number of options up front, having signed exciting Argentine youngster Paulo Dybala from Palermo.
5) Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica to Manchester United)
A decent player, but good enough to get into this United team? With the Red Devils already signing Memphis Depay out wide, this move seems like little more than speculation.
4) Carlos Tevez (Juventus to Liverpool)
An ambitious move, but one that could be doable for Liverpool, with reports in Italy stating that Carlos Tevez wants to leave Juventus for a new challenge this summer, and he’d definitely be a great fit at Anfield given their need for a top class forward.
3) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool to Manchester City)
A move that seems inevitable now after recent stories, the only issue is if Manchester City meet Liverpool’s £50m demands for Raheem Sterling, with the Reds turning down £30m this week and a £40m offer from City expected in response.
2) Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim to Manchester United)
With a fee agreed, it looks like Roberto Firmino is edging closer to joining Manchester United after a hugely impressive season at Hoffenheim. The Brazilian, 23, can play a number of roles in attacking midfield or up front, and could be a great signing.
1) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco to Chelsea)
A surprise move that does seem to have serious weight to it after comments from Jose Mourinho, it now seems almost certain that Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao will be heading to England on loan again next season with Chelsea.
