Liverpool forward Lazar Markovic has been linked with an exit from Anfield just a season after moving in a £20m deal from Benfica – with his former club allegedly considering a summer move.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Benfica are contemplating luring the winger back to the Estadio da Luz, and the Daily Star suggest that the Merseyside club could be tempted into selling in order to finance potential new additions in the summer window.
The Liverpool Echo have rubbished the speculation, however, and believe that there is no chance that Brendan Rodgers will give up so soon on the Serbia international.
The 21-year-old caught the eye after netting his first goal for the club in a man-of-the-match display versus Sunderland in January, but struggled to make an impact on the Reds first-team, having made just 11 Premier League starts in his first season at Anfield.
If, however, winger Raheem Sterling leaves in the summer, as is allegedly expected [Sky Sports], Markovic could be given the chance to impress and may be rewarded with a more significant role in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
