5) Manchester United, Inter Milan – 3
With three wins each, Manchester United and Inter Milan are in joint fifth place here. Both teams have enjoyed plenty of success in Europe’s top club competition, with United last winning it in 2008 and Inter in 2010. Both clubs have also won it as part of a treble, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary 1999 side celebrating in the image above, while Jose Mourinho achieved the same with his 2010 Inter side.

4) Ajax – 4
No longer a force in European football, but some of the world’s best players of all time have played for Ajax, who have lifted the famous trophy on four occasions in their history, most recently in 1995 when Louis van Gaal brought through an amazing generation of young talent which included Clarence Seedorf, Marc Overmars and Patrick Kluivert.
3) Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich – 5
Barcelona now move level with Liverpool and Bayern Munich in third place with five wins in the Champions League. Incredibly, the Catalan giants only won the big trophy for the first time in their history back in 1992, but have been hugely dominant in the competition since they won it again in 2006, following it up with wins in 2009, 2011 and now 2015.
2) AC Milan – 7
In second place, AC Milan are another historically big side in this competition who have faded badly in recent times. The Italian giants last won the Champions League with a win over Liverpool in 2007, but now don’t even compete in the tournament after becoming a mid-table side in Serie A.
1) Real Madrid – 10
Some way in front of everyone else, it’s Real Madrid in first with an amazing ten titles. The Spanish giants sealed ‘La Decima’ last season with a 4-1 win over Atletico Madrid. Much of their success in the competition came in the 50s and 60s when they won five in a row, but they have also made their mark in the tournament’s modern history as well.
