In-demand German manager Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed his decision to take a break from football following his departure from Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp has been linked with managerial roles at Premier League side Liverpool in recent weeks (via Metro Sport) after announcing back in April (via BBC Sport) that he was to step down at manager of Dortmund at the end of the season.
However, after talks with his agent Marc Kosicke on Monday, Klopp has decided to go ahead with his planned sabbatical:
“After seven intense and emotional years, I think it’s a good idea to let the numerous memories settle in before I take on a new challenge with my coaching team, refreshed and fully motivated,” Klopp said in a statement published by Germany’s SID agency (via Sky Sports).
His final game in charge did not go as he would of liked as Der BVB crashed to a 3-1 defeat in the German Cup final on Saturday, despite taking a fifth minute lead against Wolfsburg.
The 47-year-old took charge of Dortmund in 2008 and led the club to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012. A year later he guided the side into the final of the Champions League where they were narrowly beaten by Bayern Munich at Wembley.
This season has been very difficult for Klopp and his side as they found themselves in a battle for survival at the turn of the year but managed to turn it around and ended up with a respectable seventh placed finish.
