Former Manchester City star Robinho will not be joining South American giants Flamengo, according to Brazilian sports news website Lancenet.com.br.

After a reasonably successful loan period from AC Milan to Santos in which Robinho scored five goals in 18 games, Brazilian TV network Globo had reported that Flamengo might try and sign him on a permanent deal this summer
However, the vice president of Flamengo, Alexander Wrobel, has moved to quell the rumours.
“No, no, no, we won’t [sign him]” Wrobel is quoted by Lancenet as telling Seleção SporTV.
“We had a meeting [about the player] after training on Friday, but we will not move the deal forward”.
The news will come as a blow to the Flamengo fans. The club has struggled in recent years and they had hoped that adding a national icon to their front line would propel them back to the upper echelons of the league table.
Robinho is loved by the majority of Brazilian fans after making 96 appearances for the national side, scoring 27 goals, though he has only played three times since the 2011 Copa America.
It is now unclear where Robinho will ply his trade next season, though news website Inside Futbol report that he might end up at Greek side Olympiakos.
