Manchester United have been linked with an exciting move to sign highly-rated Hoffenheim starlet Roberto Firmino, so here’s a look at five facts about the talented Brazilian playmaker, who has also been watched by the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City this season…

1) He can play almost anywhere

This season, Firmino has played in five different positions for Hoffenheim, starting either up front, just behind the main striker, central midfield, left midfield or the left-hand side of a front three. He can also play on the right flank and has done so in the past. This kind of versatility and comfort in a number of different attacking roles should see him fit in well into Louis van Gaal’s setup at Manchester United, with the Dutchman playing a fluid system that often sees players swap positions and change their roles depending on various formations or systems the team can play.

2) He has 32 goals in the last two seasons

He’s very good at doing what matters – scoring goals. Firmino scored an excellent 22 goals last season and added a further ten this year, with many of his strikes being some impressive solo efforts displaying superb technique and skill. Whether it’s from deep, out wide, or up front, Firmino could be a great source of goals for United next season.

3) And 21 assists in the last two seasons

Firmino is also a superbly intelligent and creative player, as shown by his 21 assists in the last two seasons. With Angel Di Maria proving something of a disappointment in that department this term, it may be that Firmino is being targeted to replace the Argentine and provide more assists for his team-mates, with a move to PSG looking increasingly likely for the former Real Madrid midfielder.

4) Named best breakthrough talent in 2014

Firmino’s numbers have not quite been as good this season, but his amazing performances in 2013/14 saw him win the Bundesliga Breakthrough Talent of the Year award. At 23 years of age, he has already achieved a great deal and should only improve further.

5) He’s already scored at the Emirates Stadium
