The promising Argentine has enjoyed a highly prolific season in La Liga, scoring 18 goals as well as providing six assists in all competitions at the ripe age of 21.
Liverpool have previously been mentioned as favourites to sign Vietto, and it is thought that they too could match Arsenal in paying his £14.2m buy-out clause, which looks like a bargain for a player of his ability and potential.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool need new signings up front this summer, with Arsene Wenger unconvinced by Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in that department, while Brendan Rodgers is yet to find an adequate replacement for Luis Suarez.
According to the Metro, the battle is now on between these two clubs to win the race for Vietto’s signature, with an exit likely due to his low asking price.
