Rafael Benitez best XI: Liverpool & Chelsea legends feature as Spaniard prepares for Bernabeu job
Its not that surprising as the Blues won the top flight with three games to spare after holding on to first position for the entire season. They also won the Capital One Cup in a very successful campaign for manager Jose Mourinho.
Southampton are the only other team to get more one than one player in the starting XI, but Manchester United and Arsenal both managed to have some representation.
Here is the side…
GK) David De Gea, Manchester United
The Spain international has been in great form throughout the season, and the Red Devils’ chances in the next campaign could be decided on whether they manage to keep hold of him.
RB) Nathaniel Clyne, Southampton
Only the Saints matched Chelsea’s defensive prowess, and the right-back was a big part of that. He impressed enough to become an England regular.
LB) Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea
The first of half a dozen Blues stars in the side, it is amazing how well the full-back does considering he was originally signed to play on the right.
CB) Jose Fonte, Southampton
From being regarded as a liability at the back by some last time round the 31-year-old has been a rock since Dejan Lovren left St. Mary’s.
CB) John Terry, Chelsea
Played in every single minute of the Stamford Bridge outfit’s title winning season, and the 34-year-old looks like has a few years left in him yet.
