Ten world class players Arsenal could sign this summer after Wenger vows to spend, including Liverpool star
The Spain icon recently confirmed that he would join Al-Sadd at the end of the season, ending his 17-year association with the Barca first-team, via ESPN.
While this transfer ostensibly signals the end of the midfielder’s career in Europe, PSG are believed to still hold out hope that they could acquire the player on a one-year loan deal.
According to Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 champions’ officials are currently working on a deal that would see the 35-year-old move to France this summer.
The French source believe that PSG’s desire to press forward with an attempted temporary switch is a clear indication that Xavi himself is open to the deal.
“PSG would not launch this operation without the agreement of Xavi,” began Arnaud Hermant, speaking to Le Parisien TV.
Xavi leaves Barcelona as one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.
The Catalonian won eight La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and the Champions League in 2006, 2009 and 2011.
For Spain, he won the World Cup in 2010 and also lifted the European Championship in 2008 and 2012.
While Xavi would not necessarily take a place in the PSG first team ahead of the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta, his arrival would surely spell the end for Yohan Cabaye, who has been linked with a move back to the Premier League.
Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with a summer move for the Newcastle United midfielder, according to talkSPORT.
