Manchester United want to hijack a proposed £30m move for Liverpool’s number one summer transfer target with a superb swoop for one of the Premier League’s in-form players.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen up front this summer after disappointing seasons from Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, the latter of whom has left Old Trafford after a season on loan at the club from Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco.
With that in mind, United now want to enter the running to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, who is firmly on Liverpool’s agenda as the Reds also look for improvements to their attack.
It remains to be seen who will win the race for the Belgian’s signature, with the 24-year-old attracting plenty of interest after scoring 12 goals in his final 12 league games of the season.
According to the Metro, United want to frustrate Liverpool as they join the race for his signature, while Chelsea have previously been mentioned as suitors as well.
