Manchester United could be preparing to sign as many as six players from the Bundesliga this summer, with the Red Devils linked with a number of big names from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.

Louis van Gaal has a job to do to strengthen his squad ahead of next season, with the Dutchman in need of several new recruits to improve his side’s chances of mounting a more serious challenge for the Premier League title.
According to recent reports, these could be the Bundesliga players brought in by United this summer…
1) Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)
With Manchester United in need of new signings in central midfield, one name that keeps coming up is Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan, who is looking more than likely to quit the Bundesliga giants this summer after turning down a new contract. The German international has shown his quality down the years and could fit in well in United’s system, though Arsenal are also interested.
2) Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)
Another German midfielder with great pedigree, Bastian Schweinsteiger could be set to call time on his career with Bayern Munich after spending his entire playing days so far with the Bavarian giants. Van Gaal knows him well from his time at the Allianz Arena and now wants to add him to his squad at Old Trafford.
3) Dante (Bayern Munich)
In a possible double raid on Bayern, United also want to strengthen their defence with the signing of commanding Brazilian centre-back Dante, as an alternative to Mats Hummels, who was recently reported as snubbing an exit from Borussia Dortmund.
4) Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)
A player who failed to make the grade at Chelsea, Kevin De Bruyne has been superb for Wolfsburg this season and is now reportedly among United’s targets in the attacking midfield department this summer, perhaps with Angel Di Maria set to quit the club after a disappointing first season in England.
5) Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)
With United arguably in need of another left-back, reports suggest they could also raid Wolfsburg for the signing of Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez, who is another youngster to have enjoyed a terrific season in the German top flight.
6) Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim)
An exciting young Brazilian talent, Roberto Firmino has shone for Hoffenheim this season and is wanted by United as well as Liverpool this summer. Capable of playing in midfield or up front, there’s no doubt the 23-year-old could be a great buy for the Red Devils.
