Arsenal rumours
The Gunners play Aston Villa at Wembley this weekend with a chance to retain the FA Cup they won last year, but many fans feel the club should be doing better in the Premier League and Champions League.
Arsenal finished third in the table whilst exiting Europe at the first knockout round, but Wenger now has his sights set on these three big names from Serie A to improve his side’s fortunes for next season…
With strengthening urgently needed in midfield, various reports suggest Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Arturo Vidal from Juventus. The box-to-box player was courted heavily by Manchester United last summer but a move never materialised, leaving him free to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer, possibly for around £28.4m.
One of the best strikers in the world, Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain is also believed to be on Arsenal’s radar again this summer, having been linked with the Gunners when he was still at Real Madrid. Manchester United and Chelsea are also tracking the prolific Argentine, however.
Finally, Arsenal could also try again to sign AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas, who was a target for Arsene Wenger when at previous club Olympiacos. The Greek international has had a solid first season in Serie A and could be a useful signing to replace the struggling Per Mertesacker.
